Street running

I went for another small run today. Same route as last time, roughly 1 mile. My time for this run was 8 minutes 1 second. I was lucky – I made all the lights so didn’t have run in the spot and wait. That pretty much explains the time. Saved 1 minute or more not having to wait for the lights to change.

I think that if I can keep this up for the next week or so (running 1 mile as a warm-up), I should be able to push this to 1.5 miles as a warm-up. But I’ll see how the rest of my week goes.

Tonight I have gumbo class and I should try to take taekwondo. Sunday night, I whacked my tail bone on the armrest of the couch and it’s sore and bruised so I’m not sure if I can do situps tonight in class. I suppose though I should just try to do all the kicking. I need it. Just hope my knee doesn’t give up on me.

Street Running (October 2)

Filed under: Cass' training blog - martial arts, weights, running — feyMorgaina @ 23:58

It’s been a busy weekend, so only had time for a little bit of running today.

I did a small route (roughly 1 mile) around my home. Here’s the route:

1) Starting from home, run to Church and Isabella
2) North on Church to Bloor
3) East on Bloor to Huntley
4) South on Huntley to Isabella and head home

My time for this run today was 9 minutes 13 seconds.

After I got home, I did my 100 pushups and some stomach crunches and of course, stretched out my muscles.

The weather has been a bit of a downer for me making it hard to keep motivated to run, but I’ll keep trying! Hopefully tomorrow I can get some work done and get some exercise.

Training update

Filed under: Cass' training blog - martial arts, weights, running — feyMorgaina @ 06:01

Wednesday

Went to the do jang and did a taekwondo class, practices some patterns afterwards, then headed over to the gym. My knee was bothering me, so I didn’t do any running, only some weight training.

Leg press
Hamstring flexor
Hip adductors
Hip abductors
Pull-ups (again military and parallel)
Dips
Chest press
Bar pulls (works the muscles next to the scapulae on the back)
Pectoral press
Shoulder fly
Shoulder lift
Bicep curl
Tricep extensor

I did my standard 100 pushups. I did 100 crunches/situps at the do jang so didn’t do anymore stomach work.

Thursday

I went to the do jang and only took gumdo class. My knee was still bothering me a little bit and I wasn’t in the mood to do taekwondo kicking with an uncomfortable knee. I ended up just going home and taking it easy.

Friday

There’s only gumdo on Friday at the do jang and as the children were having a sleepover starting at 8 p.m., we only had the one hour class. We did some candle snuffing as well as a quick run through of cuts and patterns.

I went to the track after to do some running. However I was feeling a little tired and my knee wasn’t that great, so I didn’t do as much running as I’d like. I did two laps only and at a slow pace.

Today

Well, today is Saturday, so maybe I’ll get some good running in. It’s just been so cold lately that I haven’t felt like getting out of my nice warm bed. The change in weather also affects my breathing. I tend to get congested which makes running so much harder, but I’ll keep trying.
